WRAS Approved Washing Machines

WRAS – Water Regulations Advisory Scheme. When installing a product which will carry or receive water from the public mains water supply in the UK, it is a criminal offence if it does not comply with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations or Scottish Byelaws.  These require that a water fitting should not cause waste, misuse, undue consumption or contamination of the water supply and must be ‘of an appropriate quality and standard’.

The Regulations are typically in effect between the boundary of a property and the point of discharge, WRAS Approval is the best way to demonstrate compliance as it is granted directly by representatives of the water suppliers and is therefore accepted by every water supplier in the UK

More than ever businesses are experiencing visits from their local water authorities who are inspecting all equipment that is connected to the water supply. Those targeted in the main are the healthcare, nursing and residential homes and veterinary practices and when non WRAS approved machines are found, notice is served to remove and replace them with an approve product, this is regardless of age and condition.

Here at Allsop & Francis Ltd we have a wealth of experience in providing WRAS Approved equipment to our customers, in fact we are in contravention of the regulations ourselves if we were to supply and install non WRAS machines into an environment that must have them.

All of the commercial machines that we supply have been tested and certified as WRAS Approved and as you will see from our other web pages we specialise in the Miele Professional and Electrolux Laundry products; by choosing to buy or rent one of these machines you will not only satisfy your local water authority but start to save on your running costs due to their class leading low water, power and detergent consumption.

Machines such as the Miele PW6055 and Electrolux Quickwash are ideal to replace any domestic machines that have been condemned, alternatively if you would like a full review of your laundry set up then you could use this as an opportunity to increase capacity, reliability and efficiency with commercial machines up to 32kg capacity.

If you have had a visit from your local water authority inspectors and have been given notice to resolve WRAS related issues, please call us on 01243 555525 for our expert advice.
